Job Description
As a Marketing & Business Development professional, your role involves driving business growth by engaging with clients, identifying opportunities at early project stages, and developing competitive strategies to convert opportunities into successful wins. Your responsibilities will require close coordination with customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders to position the organization effectively in the market and build long-term value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring strong, ongoing engagement throughout the business development lifecycle.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients to understand their needs, priorities, and decision-making processes.
- Represent the organization in client meetings, industry events, and networking forums.
- Track and identify projects at the conceptual and planning stages to influence project scope, specifications, and timelines.
- Gather market intelligence related to upcoming projects, client strategies, and sector trends.
- Coordinate with internal technical and commercial teams to align early project insights with organizational capabilities.
- Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with organizational goals and market opportunities.
- Forecast potential business pipelines, revenue streams, and market growth based on customer opportunities.
- Prepare and present periodic reports on pipeline status, market trends, and business performance.
- Work closely with customers and internal teams to package bids that are competitive, compliant, and aligned with client expectations.
- Manage pre-bid interactions, clarify biddable queries, and ensure timely responses to client requirements.
- Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals, including value propositions and differentiators.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, consultants, partners, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, legal, operations) to ensure cohesive bid and business development efforts.
- Analyze competitor strategies, strengths, and weaknesses to create entry barriers and differentiation in the marketplace.
- Develop unique selling propositions (USPs) and positioning strategies that enhance win probability.
- Continuously monitor market dynamics to stay ahead of competition.
- Work with customers and internal finance teams to align budgets with identified opportunities.
- Support pricing strategies, cost evaluations, and commercial negotiations to ensure profitable growth.
- Ensure business opportunities are pursued within approved budget frameworks and risk parameters.
Responsibilities:
- Measure marketing program effectiveness and KPIs to drive continuous improvement in strategy and output.
- Organize department meetings, conduct personnel reviews, and attend managerial meetings.
- Participate in organization-wide strategy planning and expand the thinking around the role of marketing in achieving growth.
- Oversee marketing expenses and resources including relationships with external vendors and advertising and media firms.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's / Masters degree or equivalent experience in Marketing / Business Management.
- 20 to 25 years experience in Marketing & Business Development from Water Industry - WTP STP/ ETP / TTP (Mandatory).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent multitasking and project management skills.
