Job Description
Role Overview:
You will be part of the Cabling Center of Excellence (CoE) responsible for defining and governing global structured cabling standards to ensure high-performance, compliant, and scalable connectivity across data centers. Your role involves standardizing design patterns, material choices, and quality controls for fiber and copper infrastructures. You will ensure consistency in backbone, horizontal, and pathway designs across projects and regions, enabling faster and error-free deployments. Additionally, you will evaluate emerging cabling technologies for high-density and AI fabrics and update standards accordingly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define global structured cabling standards covering topology, routing, pathways, and component selection for consistent high-performance connectivity.
- Own AI-ready and high-density cabling architectures, including support for GPU clusters, spineleaf fabrics, and high-speed interconnects.
- Drive design-to-deployment alignment, ensuring cabling standards translate cleanly into build and operations.
- Partner with OEMs and network teams to validate future network speeds (400G / 800G and beyond) readiness.
- Standardize labeling, documentation, testing, and certification practices to ensure traceability, compliance, and operational simplicity.
- Publish reference backbone and high-density cabling designs supporting current and next-generation network speeds and fabrics.
- Validate vendor components and materials against defined standards for quality, interoperability, and lifecycle supportability.
- Conduct audits and reviews to ensure project implementations adhere strictly to approved cabling and quality standards.
- Continuously update standards to incorporate new connector types, fiber classes, and emerging high-speed interconnect technologies.
- Provide expert design guidance and escalation support for complex, large-scale, or non-standard cabling requirements.
- Maintain reusable design libraries and detailed templates enabling faster, consistent, and error-free cabling solution development.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong expertise in fiber and copper DC cabling technologies.
- Strong understanding of spineleaf architectures, MMR design, and cross-connect strategies.
- Experience working across multi-region programs, ensuring consistency and repeatability of cabling standards.
- Familiarity with operations impacts of cabling design (maintenance, labeling accuracy, MACD efficiency).
- OEM certifications (CommScope, Panduit, Corning, Siemon preferred).
- Deep knowledge of TIA-942 and related standards.
- 10+ years in DC cabling design/implementation.
- Experience with OEM ecosystems and certification practices.
- Ability to create detailed technical documentation. Role Overview:
