Job Description
As a Staff Software Engineer at Nielsen, you will join a community that champions your success and provides opportunities for growth. You will be part of a talented, cross-functional team working on cutting-edge technologies to improve user workflows in Intelligence Studio.
**Role Overview:**
- Build software and integrations in a cloud-based microservices environment using technologies like Kubernetes, Spark, Ray, etc.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement interfaces, workflows, and services that enhance the delivery of data science products.
- Participate in team code reviews, enforce quality standards, and promote best practices in development and operations.
- Design and develop data visualization tooling to enhance data exploration workflows for data science.
- Integrate data science visualization and diagnostic tooling into existing distributed compute and development environments.
- Build secure integrations with the Kubernetes API to manage user workloads in a shared environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Write software in Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, and Scala.
- Author clear and purposeful epics/stories within a cross-functional team.
- Identify opportunities and weaknesses in the platform architecture.
- Design and develop data visualization tooling using Electron, Jupyterhub, Plotly, TypeScript, and Pandas.
- Integrate data science visualization and diagnostic tooling like TensorBoard, Ray Serving, and Spark History Server.
- Understand and debug interactions between cloud networking components and cluster ingression.
- Build secure integrations with the Kubernetes API for managing user workloads.
- Promote and enforce best practices in development and operations.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, Kubernetes, Airflow, Electron, Jupyter, Pandas, Keras, Ray, TensorFlow, CUDA.
- Experience with Apache Spark, Istio, Scala, Java, Go, Kong, cloud software design, containerized microservices, and distributed caching.
- Experience with machine learning algorithms like RNNs, CNNs, random forest, LLMs is a plus.
