Job Description
As a Software Engineer specializing in Lifting Modules & Cobot Applications, your main responsibility will be to support the software development team in Germany by creating and adjusting PC software modules and apps for programming and parameterization of electronic devices. You will also be involved in supporting software changes and data maintenance for product design. Collaboration with technical/operations teams is crucial to complete software projects on time, within budget, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. This will enable the management of new products through the Configure to Order process in a fast-paced project-based environment.
In addition to the above, you will also be supporting the Linear Motion business for Cobot Software Applications. This involves designing, developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining CMCO PHOENIX Robotics (PHR) Lifting Column software programs for ABB, UR, FANUC, and other cobot systems.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Contribute to various projects including design, development, rebuilding, software improvements, and documentation for new/existing software products.
- Review software designs to ensure compliance with engineering principles and related specifications, while supporting the product documentation team.
- Design and detail software parts and modules.
- Create Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) to meet PHR Lifting Column Marketing Requirements Specification.
- Design and implement the User Interface (UI) to meet FRS for ABB/UR/FANUC cobots.
- Design, implement, and verify the backend to communicate between PHR and ABB/UR/FANUC Cobots.
- Develop test plans, execute tests, and complete test reports.
- Occasional travel to other CMCO locations and customer sites, up to 10% of the time.
- Adapt to meet critical deadlines, demonstrating solid time-management skills.
**Qualification Required:**
- Bachelors degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering / Engineering Informatics).
- 3+ years of experience including proficiency in programming languages such as embedded C, embedded C++, JavaScript, Python, XAML/C.
- Experience with ABB Cobot RAPID language and simulate operations using ABB RoboStudio Software.
- Experience with UR configuration of UR cobot hardware and software e.g., PolyScope and URScript, Docker, Bazel, and CMake.
- Experience with FANUC proficient in FANUC robot programming language using Tech Pendant and KAREL language.
- Knowledge of Python, PLC, HMI programming is a plus.
