Senior Engineer - Mechanical

Role Overview: As a Senior Engineer - Mechanical at Convergix, you will play a crucial role in the timely and quality completion of projects, particularly in the Automotive BIW domain. Your responsibilities will involve refining design concepts into practical and manufacturable designs that meet performance, durability, and cost targets. This position requires you to be an independent contributor who is willing to learn new platforms and domains, with the ability to execute projects effectively. Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be an integral part of the team working towards becoming the ultimate trusted partner in industrial automation. Key Responsibilities: - Mechanism Design: Design automated fixtures, toolings, and material handling systems for Automotive BIW with a deep understanding of Spot welding and Mig welding systems & applications. - Communication: Effectively communicate project status, issues, risks, scope management items, and forecasts. - Engineering Calculations: Perform engineering calculations to analyze equipment parameters such as force, movement, energy, timings, robot payloads, and cycle times. - Mechanical Designs: Develop and execute complex mechanical designs for auto-welding systems, material handling, and robotic end of arm toolings. - Standards Exposure: Have exposure to North American Standards and GMD1 Standards. - Mechanical Systems: Design mechanical systems integrating pneumatics, mechanical drive systems, kinematic principles, sensors, motors, and vacuum applications. - Collaboration: Work collaboratively with process, electrical engineering, and control system engineering teams in an industrial automation environment. - Material Handling Systems: Design material handling systems and robotic integrated systems like conveyors, chutes, AGV/AMR, end of arm toolings, and complex grippers. - Cross-Functional Knowledge: Possess knowledge in machine assembly, testing, and troubleshooting in automation. - APQP & PFMEA: Exposure to APQP & PFMEA environments. - Manufacturing Collaboration: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes. - Compliance: Ensure all mechanical systems designed comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements. Qualifications Required: - Education: BE or B. Tech in Mechanical/Production Engineering. - Industry Experience: Minimum 8+ years in mechanical design, specifically in automation machinery for the food industry, packaging, and life sciences verticals. - Key Skills: Proficiency in BIW Welding systems, robotic systems & manufacturing, with strong concept design abilities. - Software: Proficiency in NX is a must, with working knowledge in SolidWorks. - Standards Exposure: Experience with North American Automotive standards and GM Standards.
