Job Description
As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Smith+Nephew, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing highly scalable, secure, and resilient AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Your deep expertise in advanced Terraform practices will be crucial in leading the design and execution of sophisticated Kubernetes deployment strategies leveraging Argo CD to enable reliable, automated, and observable continuous delivery.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing complex AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with advanced Terraform.
- Implementing advanced Kubernetes deployment strategies using Argo CD.
- Leading containerization strategies using Docker and Kubernetes, including advanced scaling and orchestration techniques.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive security frameworks, including advanced IAM policy design, enterprise-scale secrets management, and vulnerability scanning and mitigation strategies.
- Implementing robust observability solutions by integrating tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, and ELK Stack for holistic system performance monitoring.
- Contributing across the full product lifecycle, including support for products released to market.
- Working within Agile teams and collaborating with Agile coaches and Scrum Masters to grow within the role.
Qualifications required for this role:
- Education: BS in Software Engineering, or Computer Science or equivalent required. MS or PhD in Software Engineering, or Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
- Licenses/ Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Kubernetes certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3 5 years of relevant experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE).
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems administration.
- Expert-level knowledge of AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda, CloudWatch).
- Strong hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), scripting languages (Bash, Python, Go), and advanced knowledge of monitoring and observability.
