Platform Database Administrator

As a Database Platform Management professional, your role will involve supporting, maintaining, and optimizing Linux-based database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and CockroachDB. You will be responsible for deploying and managing database workloads on Kubernetes, including working with Operators, StatefulSets, Helm, and CRDs. Additionally, you will deploy and support databases on IaaS environments, ensuring best-practice cloud resource utilization, cost optimization, and scalable deployments on AWS or Azure cloud services. Your responsibilities will also include supporting the operation of a Managed Database-as-a-Service platform, monitoring databases using modern APM and observability tools like Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, and ELK. You will implement alerting, capacity management, and proactive performance monitoring while collaborating closely with the DBA team for escalations, tuning activities, and advanced troubleshooting. Furthermore, you will partner with Cloud & Infrastructure Teams to design standardized and secure DB deployment patterns and collaborate with the Architecture Team to build modern database solutions, including container-native, cloud-native, and distributed databases. Your contributions will be essential in improving database reliability, resiliency, DR strategy, and automation pipelines. In terms of integration systems, you will support and understand messaging and event-driven architectures, including RabbitMQ, Kafka, Apache NiFi, streaming, and change-data-capture integration patterns. You will also assist in designing data flows integrated with core database platforms. Qualifications Required: - Strong Linux systems administration skills (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu). - Hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and/or CockroachDB. - Strong understanding of database replication, clustering, sharding, backup/restore, and HA patterns. - Experience with Kubernetes, including Operators, Helm, StatefulSets, and persistent storage design. - IaaS experience deploying databases on AWS or Azure. - Knowledge of CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, GitOps. - Strong troubleshooting skills for database performance, networking, and storage issues. - Familiarity with messaging and streaming systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, and NiFi.
