Role Overview:
As a DFM/SMT Engineer at Tata Electronics in Bengaluru, you will play a crucial role in optimizing PCB designs for high-yield production, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring smooth manufacturing launches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review PCB designs, Gerber/ODB++ data, BOMs, and specifications to assess manufacturability.
- Provide DFM/DFA recommendations to enhance yield, cost, and production efficiency.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and BD teams during RFQ and NPI phases.
- Conduct DFM analysis using CAD/EDA tools and generate detailed manufacturability reports.
- Support process validation activities including SMT setup, reflow profiling, and AOI readiness.
- Drive improvement initiatives, update internal DFM guidelines, and best practices.
- Engage directly with design teams and customers to resolve manufacturability issues.
- Support yield, cost, and process efficiency analysis through structured data reporting.
Qualifications Required:
- B. Tech / B.E Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.
- Solid expertise in SMT assembly processes such as screen printing, placement, reflow, and AOI.
- Deep understanding of DFM/DFA principles for electronic assemblies.
- Proficiency in PCB EDA/CAD tools for layout reviews.
- Familiarity with PCB fabrication constraints, materials, and industry technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of IPC standards (e.g., IPCA610) and electronics manufacturing best practices.
- Competence in office/data analysis tools for reporting, yield tracking, and cost analysis.
- Understanding of PLM/MES systems and continuous improvement methodologies like Lean Six Sigma.
