Lab Assistant/Data Entry

As a Data Lab Technician at Quin, you will be an essential part of the Research & Development team, contributing to the data infrastructure that drives our machine learning and algorithm development. Your primary responsibility will be to collect, organize, label, and validate sensor data crucial for training and testing our crash detection algorithms. This role offers hands-on experience with sensor systems, data pipelines, and the complete cycle of ML data preparation. Key Responsibilities: - Support sensor data collection, labeling, and validation to facilitate high-quality algorithm development and machine learning. - Setup Test Rigs: Assemble and configure test fixtures, mounting systems, and sensor rigs for controlled data collection experiments. - Execute Data Collection: Run structured data collection protocols using test rigs, drop setups, and motion simulators to capture sensor data for various scenarios. - Label and Annotate Data: Review collected sensor data, identify crash events, classify incident types, label key features, and annotate edge cases with high accuracy. - Maintain Data Repositories: Organize data with clear naming conventions, metadata, and folder structures, ensuring proper archiving and accessibility. - Assist with Validation: Support algorithm validation by running test scenarios, comparing predictions against ground truth, and documenting any discrepancies. - Maintain Lab Equipment: Keep data collection tools organized, calibrated, and in good condition to ensure smooth operations. - Document Procedures: Create and maintain clear documentation for data collection, labeling guidelines, and data organization standards to facilitate team training and consistency. - Support Algorithm Team: Respond promptly to data requests from ML and algorithm engineers, helping explain data collection conditions and resolving data quality issues. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred. - Comfortable with computers, learning new software tools, and working with data files. - Interest in data, sensors, machine learning, and technology. - Python familiarity for basic data processing and visualization. - Experience with data labeling, annotation tools, or data organization systems. - Understanding of sensor systems, IMUs, or accelerometers. - Background in lab work, technical testing, or data collection environments. - Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and data management tools. - Experience with version control (Git) or collaborative data platforms.
