Head of Data Platform

You are a highly technical and execution-driven Data Platform & Analytics Engineering Leader sought by SimplifyVMS, a modern workforce management platform dedicated to providing enterprise-grade visibility, analytics, and automation for contingent workforce programs. Your primary mission is to architect, build, and deliver a real-time, scalable analytics and reporting platform within a targeted execution window of 23 months, utilizing open-source technologies such as ClickHouse, Apache Kafka, Debezium, and Apache Superset. As the Data Platform & Analytics Engineering Leader, your responsibilities include architecting the full data warehouse and analytics stack, leading a lean team of 34 engineers, leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate build velocity, and delivering a production-grade, scalable, multi-tenant analytics platform. This hands-on leadership role requires you to design, build, and guide execution simultaneously. In the first 90 days, your focus will be on architecting the complete analytics platform, building real-time CDC pipelines, implementing performant data models, deploying Superset dashboards, establishing data segregation and RBAC, defining governance and monitoring framework, and setting up a scalable foundation for future expansion. Your core responsibilities will involve data architecture and platform design, AI-assisted development, data engineering and pipeline execution, reporting and embedded analytics, as well as team leadership of 34 engineers. You should have 7-10 years of experience in data engineering/analytics, 3+ years leading engineering teams, and proven experience in building modern data warehouses using technologies like ClickHouse, Kafka, Debezium, Superset, and strong SQL and data modeling skills. Mandatory experience required includes building and delivering data platforms within tight timeframes, leading high-velocity engineering teams, and hands-on experience with AI coding tools. Success metrics within the first 3 months include deploying a production-grade data warehouse, operational CDC pipelines, embedded Superset dashboards, implemented multi-tenant RBAC, performing high-performance ClickHouse queries, and delivering the platform within the target window.
