Role Overview:
You will be working in Goldman Sachs' Commodities desk, where you will be involved in trading various commodities on exchanges worldwide. Your main responsibility will be to develop platforms and applications to help increase revenue share. As part of the Commodities desk strats team, you will use your quantitative and scientific background to solve complex business problems, create derivative instruments and pricing models, analyze market behavior through statistical modeling, assess trading risks, and identify market opportunities. Additionally, you will contribute to building scalable software infrastructure for real-time tracking of trading activities and market data flow globally to support quick decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize a data-driven approach to construct financial models, rigorously test them, and suggest improvements
- Identify and implement statistical techniques to develop new analytical models and enhance the effectiveness of existing ones
- Demonstrate strong programming skills in Python, C, R/Matlab
- Willingness to learn and apply proprietary technologies/scripting languages
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Collaborate effectively as a team player
Qualifications Required:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Physics, Math, or a related discipline
- Prior experience in Global Commodities research or data science at a financial services firm is a plus
- Familiarity with machine learning tools and software is advantageous
- Experience working with interactive data visualization tools
