Job Description
As a Director Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Bank Digital, you play a crucial role in enhancing, building, and delivering trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your responsibilities include:
- Partnering with product and business groups to drive participation, plans, timelines, dependencies, and solutions for successful delivery and desired outcomes.
- Engaging with business stakeholders to translate complex problems into technical specifications for implementation by the engineering team under your guidance.
- Delivering cutting-edge low latency solutions leveraging the latest technologies and industry best practices.
- Championing engineering practices to enhance the effectiveness of the engineering teams through coaching, mentoring, and resolving impediments.
- Collaborating with the leadership team to drive Non-Functional Requirements, Modernization initiatives, and controls.
- Influencing peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
- Leading and participating in technical meetings to ensure architectural decisions align with organizational goals and strategy.
- Driving the adoption of AWS/internal cloud technologies, enablement tools, and processes for engineering teams.
- Creating and maintaining detailed technology roadmaps with corresponding work streams and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and communication of solutions and requirements.
- Holding governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations.
Qualifications and skills required for this role:
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 13+ years of applied experience.
- 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate, and solve complex technical challenges.
- Extensive hands-on experience in designing and building full stack cloud-native distributed systems using Java/Spring/Python/Camunda.
- Experience in AI initiatives at scale to reduce TCO and improve productivity.
- Proficiency in handling large volumes of data with databases like PostgreSQL.
- Curiosity and comfort in exploring new domains with a focus on both technology and product aspects.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing directions and establish patterns efficiently.
- Understanding of cloud technologies, software engineering/product engineering methods, and technology best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in influencing complex organizations and delivering value at scale.
- Experience managing competing requirements to align product prioritization with technical capacity and feasibility.
Preferred qualifications and skills include:
- Experience in payments/investigations domain is a plus.
