Role Overview:
You will be working as a full-time Android Developer located in Chennai. Your primary responsibility will be designing, developing, and maintaining mobile applications to ensure a seamless user experience. Your tasks will involve implementing Android design best practices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to software development efforts to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Android Application Development
- Develop and maintain the Kotlin-based Android diagnostics application.
- Implement native Kotlin modules that integrate with OEM-provided firmware APIs.
- Update, test, and deploy the APK across diverse device families and chipset combinations.
- OEM & Firmware Integration
- Integrate with OEM firmware updates from partners including Samsung (largest footprint), Motorola, TCL, Wingtech.
- Adapt to deprecations or API changes as OEMs phase out or introduce new devices (e.g., OnePlus being phased out).
- Analyze OEM-specific API behaviors at the firmware level and collaborate to ensure compatibility.
- Android OS & Firmware Release Alignment
- Track and manage the alignment of app releases with Google Android OS update timelines, OEM firmware update cycles, and chipset vendor updates from Qualcomm, LSI, and MediaTek.
- Ensure continuous compatibility as device firmware changes evolve.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with chipset and OEM teams to validate API behavior and firmware hooks.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams on release timelines, validations, feature additions, and regression testing.
- Troubleshoot issues across layers: firmware OEM API native Kotlin modules application UI.
- Performance, Logging & Diagnostics
- Implement low-level logging, telemetry, and diagnostic workflows.
- Optimize performance on diverse chipset architectures.
- Handle device diagnostics, hardware signal captures, and system-state evaluations.
Qualification Required:
- Technical Skills
- Expert level Kotlin and modern Android development practices.
- Deep understanding of Android lifecycle, permissions, services, broadcast receivers, native modules, and low-level interactions with device hardware.
- Experience integrating apps with OEM firmware APIs and strong understanding of chipset behaviors: Qualcomm, LSI, MediaTek.
- Familiarity with AOSP concepts, Android internals, HAL layers, and system services.
- Tools & Frameworks
- Proficiency in Android Studio, Gradle, ADB, Git, CI/CD for mobile releases.
- Familiarity with crash analytics, monitoring, and mobile QA automation frameworks.
- Soft Skills
- Strong coordination and communication skills with external device partners.
- Ability to operate in fast-moving release cycles with multiple dependencies.
