Job Description
You will be responsible for 3D designing, printing, painting, and shipping a display piece based on an accurate laryngoscope 3D mesh. Your tasks will include preparing the mesh as a display piece on a plinth with engraved text, 3D printing it, painting it to resemble aged bronze patina on the scope and dark walnut on the plinth, and finally shipping the finished piece to Sydney, Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a rectangular plinth and add small chamfers and a collar at the handle base
- Mount and attach the scope cleanly to the plinth
- Add debossed engraving on the blade and handle as per provided text and placement notes
- Ensure printability with a single solid structure and no fragile joins
- Use resin printing for detailed results, ensuring crisp engraving, and provide photos of the raw print before painting
- Finish the scope to look like realistic antique bronze with aged patina, including darker recesses, subtle edge wear, and a satin finish (not glossy)
- Finish the plinth with a dark walnut look, including a wood grain effect and a satin clear coat
- Pack the finished piece securely to prevent damage to fine details and ship it to Canberra, Australia, with shipping costs quoted separately
- Provide final photos under neutral lighting before shipping
Qualification Required:
- Proficiency in 3D design and 3D modeling
- Optional skills in CAD and 3D printing would be beneficial
If you are interested in this project, confirm your ability to handle the entire process of 3D printing, painting, and shipping or provide examples of painted 3D prints, particularly with metal/patina effects. Additionally, submit a fixed quote broken down into modeling/prep, printing, painting, shipping, and the number of revision rounds. The contract duration is less than 1 month with 30 hours per week commitment.
Please note that the inputs you will receive include a partial STL/OBJ mesh, target scale, text content, placement notes, reference images for bronze patina and walnut look, and any required dimensions/constraints. The deliverables expected are the finished physical piece delivered to Sydney and digital files of the final STL/OBJ and source files, along with progress photos.
